Cendrillon
Author:  Robert D San Souci illustration by Brian Pinkney

This is a great book to read to kids it is a Caribbean version of Cinderella.  It is about a young girl who mother dies and remarries a evil woman with a evil daughter. Cendrillion had a godmother with a secret wand that made all her dreams come true. It is just like cinderalla she goes to the ball and losses her slipper and ends up marrying the prince.  It has a little twist to it but its fun and you can get the kids to interact by asking them to find out the difference between the two stories.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs
by judi barrett, Ron Barrett (illustrator)

This is such a fun book to read, it is about a place called chewandswallow. This place has a variety of different weathers, it switches up between meals. Instead of snow mashed potatoes comes down and juice comes down as rain. It starts to get bad when the food becomes too big. Large pancakes falls hard from the sky. The thing that did the most damage was the huge meatballs. I recommend this book to all age groups. It has humor in it and the book has a lot of imagination and creativity.

The boy of the three year nap

Author: Robert D. San Souci, Brian Pinkney

This is one of my favorite multicultural culture books it is about a Japanese boy who loves to sleep. Everyone in town made jokes about how lazy he is and how worthless he has become.  His mother works very hard to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. But she could not handle it by herself anymore it was very hard being a widow. She begged her son to get a job so he can help around the house but he would not.  He then falls in love with a girl who comes from a wealthy family. This is when he comes up with a plot so he can be rich too. He tricks her father into marrying his daughter, giving him money and also providing him with a job. The illustration is beautiful and very detailed I would recommend this book to all teachers and parents.

Corduroy

Author: Don Freeman

I highly recommend this book, it has a good message and it is one of my favorite books. Its about a bear that lives in a store because nobody wants to buy him. Hes get rejected by a family all because his jumper is missing a button. He searches and searches around the store to find  a replacement button but no luck. In the end corduroy finds a home. I really like this book because it shows that no matter what your flaws are you can still be accepted. I recommend this to all children, parents and teacher its such a fantastic book.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

                                                 Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by
by Bill Martin Jr. , John Archambault , Lois Ehlert (Illustrator)

I recommend this book for infants thru preschoolers. It is a fun way for them to learn their A.B.C. The book is about the letters in the alphabet racing to the top of the coconut tree and because there are 26 letters it becomes too heavy for the tree so they all fall off. You can kind of sing with the book because it has a rhythm to the reading. The book is really fun it has a variety of different colors and the flow of the book is very catchy. This book is another fun way of learning for students and great way for teacher to interact with there class.
